The Acura Integra: at a Glance

Today, the mention of the Acura NSX initiates a wealth of sweet from any tuners brow.  But for many of us average Jane’s and Joe’s; settling for the less expensive used Acura Integra such as a 1988 Acura Integra, will just have to do.  But did I actually say settle?  Well, settle is probably not exactly the word of choice.  Whether you decide on an older 1990 Acura Integra or a newer 1995 Acura Integra, you are going to be in store for a wealth of fun; especially with your first breath of the multitude of Acura Integra aftermarket parts!

Complete with a sporty exterior and lively interior the 1991 Acura Integra found balance between economy and performance, with a nice heaping scoop of reliability to top it all off.  Climbing a few notches above the 91’, one can step into a 1992 Acura Integra, of which I am of course speaking of the infamous Acura GSR which spun the heads of the average Integra driver with its 30 more horses over its base model.  Better yet, the 1993 Acura Integra would make a rather sizeable weapon of choice.  The 93’ has some of the most available Acura Integra parts available than any of the other used generation Acura Integra’s.

Also of the used variety, but none-the-less not quite as low priced as the GSR is the 1998 Acura Integra Type R.  These hand finished 1.8 liter engines still turn heads with their 190 horsepower in their raw form.  Even today this engine is still considered a beautiful design.  Comfort, convenience, and sportiness in a “fully loaded” reliable super car that even the average person can still step into for a moderate price; this beast needs to prove itself to nobody.  Well, you may have to prove your Acura Integra 98 radio code at the dealer to continue to listen to those bas thumping tunes every time you replace the battery; but once out of every four years isn’t too bad.

The Acura Integra is especially popular with the tuner/performance enthusiast crowds in America.  Building up a great tuner machine out of an Acura will be an easy feat, as well as satisfying when you find yourself capable of keeping up with the various sports vehicles of the newer variety currently on the roads today.  The only thing that your older Acura Integra will be missing will be the newer body style that is popular among the performance car crowd.  But worry not my friend, because an Acura Integra body kit can be on its way to rescue you within two to three weeks; just in time for that weekend cruise.

There are a few things that you will want to keep in mind while you are shopping for one of the higher quality of Acura Integra body kits.  There are such a large number of manufacturers out there that some of them are going to fit better than other, and require less body work.  In addition to the quality of fit there is a wide variety of thickness of material used in these kits.  Generally speaking the higher the cost the thicker the material that was used, but it is always best to check out the consumer reports on any manufacturer before you buy.  The older Acura’s can be a beautiful, fun car even for today’s standards, and this author highly recommends them to anyone looking for a reasonably priced, practical, street performance vehicle that will be almost as much fun to drive as stare at in your driveway!
