The Legendary Acura Legend
The history of the Acura Legend is a rather beautiful one, and encompasses that of many accomplishments as well as a few defeats. The 1988 Acura Legend was actually in the forefront with its first model which was quickly copied by a number of other savvy manufacturers. The 1989 Acura Legend and the 1990 Acura Legend was forgotten slightly behind the limelight of the Acura NSX when it debuted and had reclaim its view in the public with increased horsepower and style that made it once again a unique car within its class.
Unfortunately the 1992 Acura Legend, 1993 Acura Legend, and the 1994 Acura Legend never regained its popularity with its set customer base, and sales suffered. If it wasn’t for the 1991 Acura Legend Coupe which became popular with the younger tuner crown, the Acura Legend may have not become quite the legend that it is known for today. And the Acura Legend has truly become a legend to both the young and old, as it has proven itself to be of both class and performance which is what most car manufacturers strive to accomplish today in light of such legendary performance.
There are a small number of weaknesses that the Acura Legend exemplifies over its years of existence, and first is the unimaginative Acura Legend wheels that should have been designed better from the very first model. They just have never had the same edge that the body style has and subsequently end up dragging the overall look of the vehicle down which is but a true shame. The next weakness the legend is know for is the Acura air conditioning compressor 1990 Legend design which was an inferior production model that did not perform well under most warm climate conditions. There was never a recall on this to my knowledge, but with the proper Acura Legend parts this weakness can be easily overcome.
If modification and self maintenance is your goal, then the Acura Legend is a rather friendly vehicle to work on. The manual for 1996 Acura Legend actual goes a long way as not a whole bunch changed among the line-up in the grand scheme of things. And if Acura Legend performance parts are your desire for becoming your own mechanic, then you will definitely not be disappointed with the options your Legend are going to have for you. The Acura Legend is extremely popular with the tuner crowd, and therefore has a large variety of parts available to you. You will never be bored when working on your Legend, as there will always be a project just waiting to be taken on.
The overall looks of the older Acura Legends definitely could use a bit of sprucing up. But that is what one of the fine Acura Legend body kits are for. To put back that pizzazz that has been lost over the years as cooler and cooler Acura cars are introduced. Speaking of cool Acura cars; the Acura 3.2 TL is a definite upgrade from any Legend that you will find throughout its entire history. But its price tag reminds you of that, so if you are looking for cheaper transportation, you would be best to stick with the Legend, at least for the next couple of years!
